THE GOLDEN GEOPARK OF LAPLAND, 1.1.2014 - 31.4.2015

The Golden Geopark of Lapland is a project aimed at establishing a Geopark in northern Finnish Lapland. The main themes of the Golden Geopark will be gold and geology, with side themes of culture and nature. Geology and human culture go hand in hand in the area of the future Golden Geopark. It includes several geologically interesting sites, some of which have international value. The area is rich with placer gold deposits, a fact that caused a gold rush in the 1860s. Gold prospecting is a significant part of the area’s history, and the main remnants of the gold history are chosen as geosites in the future Geopark. Gold prospecting still continues today. Supporting local businesses and getting them involved in the Geopark activities will be a focus of the aspiring Golden Geopark.

All Geoparks belong to a global Geopark network that works under the auspicies of UNESCO. More information about Geoparks:

INARIEXPLORER 1.6.2013-31.12.2014 

The goal is to make information about local tourism services available in a simple way for visitors through mobile applications and on the Internet, based on  Geographic Information System. This complements existing Internet sites and tools.  Training of the local tourism companies and other service providers is an important part of the project.

NEW SAARISELKÄ 1.12.2013-31.10.2014

The goal of the project is to have a  feasibility study made about Saariselkä Tourist Resort as an investment target. The documents will be produced in accordance with the standards of international enterprises and investors.

BALTIC BIRD  2012-2014

Business & Development Nordica is a partner in an EU project BALTIC BIRD Improved accessibility of the Baltic Sea Region by air transport. It is co-financed by the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007–2013. The project has 21 partners from eight countries in the Baltic Sea Region area. The project kicked off in March 2012 in Potsdam and it will last until September 2014.

The transnational partnership of BALTIC BIRD aims to improve air traffic accessibility of peripheral Baltic Sea Regions, leading to an increase in economic and social integration and cohesion, as well as to strengthen regional development in terms of economic growth and ecological sustainability.
